Located in one of the most established residential neighborhoods of Heraklion, Crete, this ongoing residential development reinterprets contemporary Mediterranean living through a refined architectural language of proportion, light, and materiality. Originally acquired by the client as a pre-approved project within the Greek building permit framework, the design evolved through a complete architectural reconsideration focused on spatial optimization, upgraded residential experience, and a more sophisticated façade identity while carefully maintaining the existing building mass and regulatory boundaries. Respecting the foundation of the original architectural studies by Kostas Makridakis, the project was transformed into a higher-value residential proposal aimed at families and couples seeking a more elevated way of living. The redesigned planning introduces improved room configurations, enhanced circulation, and stronger relationships between interior and exterior spaces, while the façade composition combines monolithic framing elements, warm concealed lighting, and vertical architectural filters to create a sense of understated luxury. Through carefully curated materials, layered depth, and a contemporary Mediterranean atmosphere, the building aspires to bring a more premium architectural character to suburban housing in Crete.
