Private Psychologist Space | Heraklion, Crete | Greece.
Interior Architecture: Ioanna Tsigeni
Conceived as a contemporary therapeutic environment for both children and adults, this psychiatry and wellness practice was designed through a holistic approach to interior architecture, spatial organization, and emotional experience. The project focuses on creating an atmosphere that balances warmth, safety, and psychological comfort with the quiet authority and professionalism required within a clinical setting. Soft natural tones, indirect ambient lighting, tactile materials, and carefully curated furnishings shape an interior that feels welcoming, intimate, and emotionally grounding rather than institutional. Spatially, the practice was organized to encourage calm transitions between consultation, waiting, and therapeutic activities, allowing patients to feel heard, protected, and at ease from the moment they enter the space. Particular attention was given to the children’s therapy areas, where sensory-based natural activities — including sand play and tactile interaction — support neurological relaxation, emotional regulation, and cognitive engagement through gentle therapeutic stimulation. Curved forms, warm wood textures, integrated lighting, and soft fabric elements reinforce a cocooning architectural language inspired by hospitality and contemporary wellness interiors, transforming the clinic into a sanctuary of care and emotional connection. Through thoughtful interior design and atmospheric curation, the project redefines the modern psychiatric practice in Heraklion, Crete, merging therapeutic functionality with refined contemporary architecture and a deeply human-centered spatial experience.
